A widespread Spectrum outage along the Outer Banks is the result of utility pole knocked down in a car crash on U.S. 158 in Currituck County.

The single-vehicle crash happened about 3 p.m. near Muddy Motorsports Park. A four-door Jeep rolled and took out the pole, knocking out power to residents and businesses in the area. There were no injuries.

A Spectrum spokesman said the utility pole also carried Spectrum’s wiring. Crews from Dominion Energy and Spectrum were on the scene Thursday afternoon working to restore service.

Spectrum customers from Currituck through Hatteras lost service shortly after the crash.
