Kitty Hawk Police Chief Joel Johnson said the van was traveling southbound when it first struck a woman running along Lindbergh Avenue, then veered off the street that runs parallel to U.S. 158 and N.C. 12 and hit the underside of a deck on the front of a house.

The woman suffered non-life threatening injuries, Johnson said.

A next door neighbor, Chance Ferguson, said the van took out the front stairway and three support posts underneath the house.

Johnson said the collision is still under investigation.
