First Flight High School golfer Katherine Schuster, only the third woman to win three North Carolina High School Athletic Association championships, will try to become just the second to complete the career sweep on Tuesday at famed Pinehurst Resort.

Normally contested in October over two days, this year’s NCHSAA state finals will be played as a single round event on Tuesday. The 1A/2A women’s championship will be on the 5,153 yard, Pinehurst No. 8 course.

Schuster, who is headed to Clemson this fall, is coming off a seven stroke victory at the East Regional Championship last week at Lane Tree Golf Club in Goldsboro.

Currently 64th in the Rolex American Junior Golf Association rankings, Schuster has three top-10 finishes in her last four AJGA outings. She tied for fifth at the AJGA Juniors at 12 Oaks last month.

Jennifer Chang of Athens Drive in Raleigh is the only four-time champion in North Carolina history, winning the 4A championships from 2014 to 2017.
