As with many things in our world, the landscape of special events has been changing ever since the onset of COVID-19.

In a surprise move, the latest Executive Order from Governor Cooper lifted the restrictions on crowd gathering, which will allow us to have large community events.

The Town of Manteo is over the moon excited to move forward with a bang with a Fourth of July celebration this year!

There will be yummy apple pies, children wheeling around town on their bikes decked in red, white and blue, and music for all to enjoy. Evening fireworks, complete with lots of twinkle and sparkle, will round out the day’s festivities illuminating the night sky with vibrant colors and explosive entertainment!

While the Governor’s Executive Order gave us sufficient time to plan the Fourth of July event, that does not hold true for Dare Day.

Dare Day will be postponed until 2022 in order to provide the many vendors, musicians, and staff adequate time to prepare for this wonderful community event.

As we look toward 2022, we want to expand this event and make it even more special. Why have all that fun on just one day, right?

So, Dare DAYS 2022 will consist of multiple days bringing together all of Manteo, beginning with the main gateway into Manteo to the downtown waterfront to Cartwright Park.

This multi-day event will be filled with activities celebrating the heritage, culture, and all things fabulous about our community! So, SAVE the DATE for Dare DAYS 2022!

The health, safety, and welfare of our residents, visitors, volunteers, and staff have always been a top priority, which includes having the time needed to plan for special events that are full of fun and festivities but are also safe.

The Town of Manteo looks forward to a brighter Fourth of July celebration in 2021 and a bigger and better Dare DAYS in 2022! We hope to see you all there!
