Teen flown to hospital after struck by vehicle near Currituck High School

A 16-year-old was flown to the hospital after they were reportedly struck by a vehicle along U.S. 158 near Currituck County High School.

The collision happened around 3 p.m. Monday. There are no sidewalks or crosswalks along the five-lane highway.

The teen was transported by Nightingale Regional Air Ambulance to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment. Their condition was not immediately available.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol is in charge of the investigation.
